Yin Yang
Assistant Professor
Yin Yang (Ph.D., The Pennsylvania State University, 2024) is an assistant professor in the School of Communication at Florida State University. Her research examines how media messages affect recipients’ beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors in health and environmental contexts, with a focus on narrative persuasion and emotions. She is particularly interested in the messaging efforts to promote awareness of and engagement with overlooked or/and stigmatized issues (e.g., menstrual health, mental health, health inequities, climate justice).
Dr. Yang’s research can be found in journals such as Human Communication Research, Mass Communication and Society, Health Communication, Environmental Communication. Her work has been awarded the Article of the Year from the AEJMC Communicating Science, Health, Environment, and Risk division. She has received support for research from the Organization for Feminist Research on Gender and Communication and the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communications.
Dr. Yang teaches communication research methods and social marketing in the School of Communication.
