Michelle Kazmer, Ph.D.

Michelle M. Kazmer is Dean of the College of Communication & Information and Professor in the School of Information at Florida State University. Her Ph.D. is from the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her MLS is from the Department of Information Culture and Data Stewardship at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. She has worked as a rare book cataloger, as an academic engineering librarian, and as a technical information specialist for an American automotive manufacturer. She maintains a research agenda in applying theories of information to Golden Age crime fiction and aligns with the community of Agathologists who study the work of Agatha Christie. As an academic leader, she focuses on demonstrating the key role of communication and information in all human endeavors, and on implementing structural solutions to systemic problems of all types.
