Biography
Annie Zhang (Ph.D., University of Michigan) is an assistant professor in science communication in the School of Communication at Florida State University. Her research explores how digital spaces and emerging technologies shape the public communication and understanding of science, health, and environmental issues. With a background as both a science journalist and a chemist, she bring an interdisciplinary perspective that informs her work. Her research aims to build positive and meaningful relationships between scientists and the public and promote evidence-based communication strategies that not only enhance public understanding of, but also inspire public engagement and interest in science.
Dr. Zhang’s research has been published in interdisiciplinary peer-reviewed journals such as Cell, Science Communication, New Media & Society, Social Media & Society, and Information, Communication, and Society. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation.
