Shannon Hall-Mills
Associate Professor; Graduate Program Coordinator (TLH Campus)
Dr. Hall-Mills is an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Science and Disorders at Florida State University and Affiliated Faculty with the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR). Her research focuses on spoken and written language development and disorders in school-age children and adolescents and school-based practices in speech-language pathology. Her work aims to improve the accuracy of assessment and the effectiveness of intervention practices for language and literacy in schools. She is also interested in the effects of educational policy on practice patterns for speech language pathologists and outcomes for children with speech-language impairment. Dr. Hall-Mills serves as Director of the SPEAR Lab (School-age Practices, Effectiveness, and Research). Dr. Hall-Mills teaches graduate courses designed to prepare future speech-language pathologists for careers working with preschool and school-age children and adolescents with communication disorders. She serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Tallahassee program. She served as President of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and provides educational and research-based talks about communication disorders for local, state, and national audiences.
