Biography
Gabrielle Lamura is a Ph.D. student in the College of Communication and Information. Her research centers on morality in gaming, horror media, death and dying, and media effects, with a focus on how mediated and interactive experiences shape ethical judgment, emotional response, and understandings of mortality.
Gabrielle is passionate about teaching and actively explores ways to gamify the classroom to foster student engagement, motivation, and deeper learning. She currently serves as Secretary of the Death and Dying Division and Vice Chair‑Elect of the Game Studies Division of the National Communication Association. She is also the Chair of the Argumentation and Forensics Division of the Southern States Communication Association and a former SCOM Conference Director. Gabrielle is a recipient of the John H. Phipps, Inc. Fund for Excellence – College of Communication Scholarship for the Fall 2025 term.
