Maedeh Agharazi
Adjunct Professor
Dr. Maedeh Agharazidermani (Agharazi)’s research centers on consumer health informatics, human-computer interaction (HCI), and the sociocultural aspects of using AI to empower individuals—especially older adults and patients. For her dissertation, she developed a structural equation model to explore the relationships between eHealth literacy, information consumption from both credible and non-credible sources, information overload, information anxiety, and information avoidance. This work provided a nuanced understanding of how individuals navigate complex digital platforms during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her postdoctoral research, Dr. Agharazi investigated how mobile health technologies can support persistence in physical activity. She explored the role of app-based data sharing in co-located and collaborative exercise settings, highlighting the potential of social and interactive features to promote sustained engagement. Across her work, she integrates theory-driven models with user-centered design to inform the development of inclusive, effective health technologies that address the needs of aging and diverse populations. She is currently involved in several projects focused on AI-assisted applications designed to help patients manage their well-being.
