Rasleen Kaur
Doctorate Student
I am a highly motivated Doctoral student in Information Science/Studies at Florida State University (FSU), where my research focuses on the critical areas of computer-mediated deception, Deepfakes, and cybersecurity. I currently serve as a Research Assistant at the FSU School of Information, where I manage and execute comprehensive data collection (image, video, and audio) and perform in-depth data analysis for a Deepfake Competition. I am also actively contributing to cutting-edge research, including an upcoming publication, "Synthetic Lies, Digital Truths: A Systematic Review of Computer-Mediated Deception Research in the Era of AI and Deepfakes," with my advisor, Dr. Shuyuan Mary Ho.
My background includes a Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics from Akal University, where I achieved an impressive overall GPA of 9.4/10. This strong analytical foundation supports my work in qualitative data analysis, where I use NVivo software for research data coding. I have also gained practical industry experience through an internship at Grant Thornton, where I created and presented cybersecurity presentations for international clients and developed cyber threat intelligence collateral.
In addition to my research, I am dedicated to academic service and leadership. I have served as a Teaching Assistant for various FSU courses, including Cybersecurity for Digital Citizens and Information Systems Management. My commitment to the FSU community is further demonstrated by my role as a member of the Internal Affairs Committee for the Congress of Graduate Students (COGS). My academic excellence has been recognized with the FSU Outstanding Research Assistant Certificate and prestigious awards like the FSU Alumni Association Alumni Ambassador Scholarship and the Dr. Martha Jane Zachert Endowed Scholarship. As I continue my doctoral journey, I am focused on leveraging my expertise in data analytics and information security to address complex sociotechnical challenges in the digital age.
