Paul Dam is the Director of FSU Live and a Specialized Faculty member at Florida State University. An award-winning technical director and production manager with over 28 years of industry experience, he brings high-stakes broadcast expertise from major networks and outside broadcast environments to the academic sphere.

Paul has directed and produced extensive national news, sports, and public media programming, and he is the former TV Production Manager for PBS/NPR station WFSU. His technical command spans the entire broadcast ecosystem, from studio set design and 3D motion graphics to advanced network engineering and 4K mobile production, uniquely positioning him to lead cutting-edge live productions and mentor future media professionals.

The Service

FSU Live is a non-profit auxiliary service in the FSU College of Communication & Information. Revenue generated directly supports student experiential learning.

The Mission

FSU Live provides Florida State University and the Tallahassee community with professional-grade, 4K-broadcast-quality, LIVE production services for fine arts, academic events, and corporate live streams while empowering students through a hands-on educational pipeline that bridges the gap between the classroom and the media industry.

The Courses

Paul leads two courses in the Digital Media Production Program at the FSU School of Communication.

RTV 3543-01 Multiple Camera Studio Production

• Master the technical and creative fundamentals of 4K multi-camera production. This lecture and integrated lab provides in-depth instruction on equipment, techniques, and professional protocols.

RTV 4467-02 TV Practicum (Advanced Multi-cam)

• Take on leadership roles to manage high-stakes 4K broadcasts. This class focuses on developing production management skills and utilizing teamwork to plan and execute remote events.
